The cutting of marble and of the natural stones is a step frequently when these materials are used in the cladding of both interior and exterior walls, as well as floors in homes. This procedure can also be a part of an artist’s creative process, in this case engaged in the lining the walls of a bathroom with marble. In the image above, kindly provided by the designers of www.ozaics.com, we can find an example of how cutting marble to line the walls of a bathroom can be turned into the opportunity to create a unique example of design.

As you can see in this image, the wall of this one bathroom was decorated with a beautiful tree, designed with a special type of marble that has a polished, matte finish, while instead this natural stone is more commonly polished.

The author of this composition carefully planned his work so that the marble veins flow out at the end of each branch. Montauk black slate was used around the tree branches, providing a very deep contrast to the stone of the structure and also to the top of the bathtub.

The ‘whole structure was previously designed on paper, in real size. The marble was cut to the desired shape using a rotary tool and a grinder equipped with a

4 inches. Every single piece of marble was carefully cut to size. Once this stage was completed, including cutting the slate pieces surrounding the tree, the entire composition was assembled on the wall in a single 13-hour shift.

The final step was choosing a stucco color to match the tree marble. Therefore, black-colored putty was applied around the outline of the tree and to complete the different points where the branches crossed, giving a slight sense of depth.

The end result is a beautiful composition that shows how many ways marble can be used.
